If you’re a Dodge fan right now, it’s a great time to be alive. With the Hellcat Challenger and Charger offering over 700 crank horsepower and the SRT Challenger Demon bringing mid-9 second quarter mile ET’s to the table, the teams at Dodge have really brought some amazing rides to the table. However, as is always the case with this automotive lifestyle we all enjoy, more is certainly better, and thanks to performance shops like Hennessey Performance, there can always be more!
Taking a stock Hellcat Challenger that laid down an impressive 664 horsepower to the wheels and adding more power to it may seem asinine to some, but for gearheads around the world, we are rarely happy with anything in stock form. So, the team at Hennessey tossed the stock supercharger, intake and exhaust in favor of a 4.5 liter supercharger, higher flowing intake and exhaust, and a custom tune to maximize the new-found power. Covering their bases, Hennessey also upgraded the fuel system to support the higher airflow through the engine to keep the air/fuel ratio happy. All of those mods are good for a healthy bump in horsepower and torque, making Hellcat, which I can personally vouch for being quite formidable in stock form, a legitimately badass street car.
Toward the end of this video, John Hennessey mentions the transmission upgrade that HPE offers. We’re going to go ahead and recommend the owner of this car order that and a good set of tires, because with these beautiful horsepower and torque curves, this car is going to be an absolute beast, and it will not be fun to try to wrangle all those ponies on regular radials. With the big blower churning, the HPE modded Hellcat produces the same power at 4,400 RPM as the stock version is able to muster at 6,200! With this kind of power in a brutal, fun-to-drive package like the Hellcat, the owner of this car is going to have a hell of a good time when he takes delivery of this car.
